Policy, Rules and Regulations
Policy:
- A gravesite (5’ x 17’) can be purchased by deed for $500. (Effective 3/27/2023)
- A cremation gravesite (5’ x 5’ 8”) can be purchased by deed for $250, limit of 4 cremains per gravesite. Grave markers must be flat and level with the surrounding ground. (Effect. 3/27/2023)
- The DCCA will allow up to 60 days to reserve grave sites ($100/gravesite must be put down for reserving) with full payment by the end 60 days. Failure to make payment by the end of 60 days results in the gravesite reverting back to cemetery. Down payment will not be refunded.
- The DCCA prohibits third party sales. Unwanted graves may be returned to the DCCA for the original purchase price. The original deed should be returned to the DCCA. If unavailable, a certified document of release will be provided by the Deep Creek Cemetery Assoc. for your signature. Deep Creek Cemetery Association will charge $20 for deed replacement or transfer with discretion given to replacements for older deeds that covered multiple graves.
- All full burials, which include a casket, are required to be interred in a vault. Cremations are not.
- Natural burials in which a casket is not used are not required to include a vault. Such natural burials will still follow all other policies and rules.
- Graves for full and natural burials shall be excavated by a DCCA approved contractor unless otherwise authorized. Cremation grave sites may be excavated by someone other than an approved contractor with the supervision of a DCCA representative.
- A Deep Creek Cemetery official must be notified in advance of the excavation of any burial, full or cremation, for proper site placement and documentation.
- Deep Creek Cemetery Association will charge $150 for weekend cremation burials and $300 for weekend full burials. No burials will be conducted on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Labor Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July. Burials on those holiday weekends shall be at the discretion of the cemetery staff.
Rules and Regulations:
Headstones
- Must be placed at the head (west end) of the grave in a straight line with the rest of the row.
- Must not exceed 30” in height.
- Must be placed on a concrete or granite pad which meets the following specifications:
- No wider than 5’ long (for a single grave) or 10’ long (for a double stone)
- Must be level with the surrounding ground.
- Must be approximately 6” wider than the headstone on all sides.
Footstones and Other Monuments or Stones
- Must be set in concrete or on a granite pad.
- Must be flat and level with the ground.
- Examples: footstones, government bronzes, government stones, stones for cremains.
Graves
- Graves must be used specifically for burial or cremation of human remains.
Cremains
- May be placed on existing graves, limit – four with a casket or eight on a (5’ x 17’) gravesite without a casket.
- Prior to interment, consult an official of the Cemetery Board. (For more on cremations, see under Policy above). See Contacts at end of page.
- Cremation gravesites (5’ x 5’8”) are limited to 4 cremains per gravesite. No vertical headstones are allowed on (5’ x 5’8”) gravesites.
Flower Beds (for live plants)
- Must be placed on the ends (north or south) of the stone (not in front of or back of the stone).
- Must stay within the boundaries of the grave or graves.
- May not be any wider than the width of the concrete or granite pad.
- Must be divided from the surrounding ground by commercial ground edging or concrete curbing.
- NO trees or bushes of any kind can be planted.
- Families are responsible for care on a regular basis. Cemetery caretakers are not responsible for weeding or other care.
- Plants left on graves that interfere with maintenance/mowing may be removed after 10 days.
- Maximum height of hanging basket frames is 36”.
Artificial Arrangements/Cut Plants
- Arrangements that interfere with maintenance/mowing may be removed after 10 days.
- USE OF GLASS VASES OR JARS IS PROHIBITED.
- Maximum height of hanging basket frames is 36”.
Vehicles
- All vehicles, other than maintenance vehicles, are to remain on the established roads.
